My Back Story

My Journey
& Why I Coach

My journey began at the age of eleven when I lost my father to a sudden heart attack. My mother raised my six siblings and me on her own. We missed Dad terribly. But looking back, it was her strength, intelligence, and determination that shaped my belief in the power of resilience and lifting others up.

Fast forward a bit, and I got married (and I definitely “married up” as they say) and today, I am a proud dad to three amazing young men who continually inspire me. Not bad for an undersized, determined hockey player who barely made it through college.

So, how did all of that lead me to where I am today?

My passion for engaging with others and fulfilling needs led me into a successful career in sales, leadership, and training. In 1993, my wife Paula and I even ventured into entrepreneurship with a Successories franchise (you know the one; with the decorative wall decor featuring aspirational messages like Teamwork, Attitude…etc.). Although that business model wasn’t the right fit, it deepened my interest in personal and professional development.

Years later, an encounter with an executive coach who explained her business model made me realize—that was exactly what I wanted to do. In 2012, I launched my coaching practice, wrote a book called The Most Important Game (published in 2024), and never looked back since.

What
Drives Me

In the years since my father passed, I witnessed countless acts of kindness, generosity, and love shown towards me, my mom, and my brothers and sisters. All of this quietly shaped my core values — impacting everything from the way I approach coaching to personal relationships… and even golf. I believe we’re all on a journey towards becoming something more than we are today. Maybe it’s becoming more loving, more impactful, more skilled in a particular domain, more inspirational — or maybe a little bit of all that. One thing I know for sure: I’m at my best when I lead and engage with Love, Compassion, Kindness, and Joy — and my passion is to help others do the same.
This brings me to my coaching philosophy.

My Coaching Philosophy

I believe lasting transformation begins with mastering what I call the inside game—the awareness, presence, and possibility thinking you bring to every high-pressure moment.

Whether you’re facing tight deadlines in the boardroom, critical shots on the course, or a pivotal performance on stage, how you manage your thoughts and emotions is the key to unlocking your full potential.

Guiding Principles

Awareness

Recognize and overcome the unproductive thought patterns holding you back.

Presence

Stay fully engaged in the moment, free from the burdens of past setbacks or future worries.

Possibility Thinking

Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and see beyond immediate limitations.

A Values-Driven Approach

Faith and family have taught me the power of love, compassion, kindness, and joy. When I’m at my best, I want to cultivate those same qualities in the people I work with — so they can realize their own potential today, tomorrow, and beyond.
